| Seminar for teachers of deaf: |
| Family Care conducted a one-day seminar entitled "Motivated teacher = Motivated student" which was attended by teachers from most of the institutions for hearing impaired. Games that helped in getting to know each other and compilation of material that motivated each one to do better were a major part of the seminar. Clips of the movie "The miracle worker" were shown to help them better understand how to deal with children with multiple handicaps and also how to turn the handicaps into an advantage, the role model being Anne Sullivan, the teacher for Helen Keller who was deaf and blind. The teachers were moved to tears to see the lengths that Anne had gone and the ground that she had to stand in order to make Helen a famous personality. After lunch, the seminar proceeded into the movie, "To Sir with love" which in summary is a good portrayal of a dedicated teacher that motivated his students to become good and useful citizens in the society by building self esteem and boosting their morale. The day ended with presentation of certificates to all the teachers and a commendation for all their efforts in their field of work.
